Potluck Party, Holloween, and The Homosexuality!!

I just talked about the differences in the similarities . at the same time I was facing some of the differences !! .. The food is not just a “food” ... not just the gas that makes us to move in this world. the food is the thing that we raised on it That we our bodies consist of and include it. The food that was helping us to determine and develop our senses! We started to know what is “Salty" and what is “Sugary". What is good and what is bad?! What is the taste that we like and what is the taste we dislike!




Everybody grew up eating some different kinds of food ... actually certain kinds of food... depends on the cultures and the people ... we will find different kinds of food ... and also different believes in food!! And the recipes of food! .... Some people like very spicy food ...... others like salty food ... others like sweets and deserts ... others prefers fruits and vegetables.... Others like the meats so much and make celebrations just for eating different kinds of meats........ And there are people who eat everything!!! ... Everything even insects!!
So that... There are different even in “taste sense"!



I have an Indian classmate. She likes to put "salt" on " watermelon" !! I surprised when I saw that at the first time. But actually she likes to do that because she likes to do that!! However she used to that so that our brains just as we have programmed!!



Sometimes we need to try new tastes ... new food ... I'd like to do that! and sometimes I discover there are new good tastes " food" and sometimes I shock !! and after I ate the first piece or try some on the front of the spoon I say " yaaaaaaaaaaaa3 !" and maybe I vomit everything in my stomach !! At the same time I find some people eat the same “food” and Delight!! Yes! It is the differences of people ... these are the cultures!

Anyway, we have decided to make “POTLUCK" party in my apartment... just to try the different kinds of food ... Different kinds of people ... different cultures and families’ background!

For who doesn't know what is “POTLUCK" ... it is a dinner or lunch and everybody brings some food. we called it in Egypt " Dish party ......... why is it " potluck"? I don't know!!


It was fun ... and we cook ... Koshry ... Mahshy .... mesaka'a ... and I cooked chicken's livers, hearts and gizzards!! And some Americans couldn't believe how they ate livers and hearts!!! Some thought the idea of eating “HEARTS" is enough to make you avoiding the food and Refraining at all!!



The differences not just in the food ... but there are a lot of differences in the celebrations ... and the way to celebrate even you celebrate in the same event or feast!! ... Like the Christmas ... almost the world celebrates the Christmas ... but there are absolutely differences from country to another!!



As we will see ... America has a lot of "weird" stuff ! even they " the Americans" say that ... however they like word " weird" as well as word " awesome" ... half of their sentences included word " awesome" and the another half included word " weird" ;-)



now I'm going to talk about one of "weird" stuff called " Halloween"
Halloween... One of the craziest celebrations in the world... The celebration of the scary!!
Actually when October comes we will find 3 things appear in the American streets .. and between the Americans ... Pumpkins.... Halloween ... Trick or Treat!



I don't exactly what is the relationship between the three things ... Or why are there with us at the same time?!



Anyway, in October, you will find all the Americans do the same things ....... buy and prepare their costume for Halloween day ... Or ... Carve Pumpkin ... or buy candy to avoid the children's trick!






From where or who the smart person that invented day for the ghosts and devils .. and haunted day .. nobody knows the real story but as I understood ... there is something related to Christian in the first of November ... and there the last day of October is the day of the all souls " spirits" of the people who died come back again ... OR something like that! Anyway... That is not convinced reason to celebrate with the ghosts and devils or trying to wear like them and scary each other! Actually the real reason of these celebrations as Bill said - Bill is my old brother in US- it is economic reasons because the Americans spend A LOT of money in these days.





Actually they carve pumpkins that if we sent them to some poor countries in Africa ... it will be enough to stop killing a lot of children.... Actually I don't want to talk about spending money in America because if I started to talk about this issue ... I won’t stop forever! So.. Halloween the second celebration after Christmas that American spend more money in! the best thing in all these things... are the costumes. actually, there are a lot of creative ideas for costumes ... not just horrible costumes ... but there are costumes for everyone in the earth! ... Famous movies characters like Super, Bat, Spider men! Tarzan.... Primitive humans.... you can find everyone ... and everything ... you can find costume for Spanish woman ... Italian man.... Pharaoh's King or Queen ... baby with his "B" ... Mother with her baby... Greek girl ....... anything that you can imagine or you don't imagine ... I even saw two girls were wearing as a virus ... one of them ware " N1" and the another " H1" ! ... and there are groups who wear groups costumes like basketball team ... group of thieves.... soccer team costumes ... even you can see " almost Naked" costume !.....and so on ..





The cute costumes for the children... really cute and creative.. But they are still all very expensive! And the celebration in US means Alcoholic and sex ... alcoholic anywhere and preparations for sex also anywhere... You will find that especially with young people like college students and teenagers but most of the American families focus on doing these traditions “Halloween traditions" without being “over” in everything! in the bars , clubs you will feel like all the people are here .... Wearing weird costumes and doing weird stuff!

in the town that I live in .. There are place that full of bars ... actually there are places ... but there are place that has a lot of bars and clubs ... if you went there at The Halloween day you will feel like “really" you are in Wonderland!


“Trick or Treat"

This is the most interesting tradition in this crazy month " October" ...

briefly, the children wear their costumes and go to around their neighborhood and nock the doors and say " Trick or Treat" ... it means you will give me some candy as a " treat" or expect a trick ... and sometimes if you don't have candy you will find you house's glass or something in your car broken as a " trick" !!


anyway, the neighborhood that have a lot of people you will find " this day" a lot of cute children who are going around the neighborhood from door to door for collecting the candy !! Really it is a very wonderful view...

But the only winner in this event is “Wal-Mart" !!

Actually this is the first event that I have seen in US that support " particulary " the society ... or celebrations to support the social relationships between peopl .. not just individual thinking !

but most of the celebrations in America " so far" just for HAVE FUN ..... HAVE FUN !! Absolutely individuality!


I believe if the celebrations or the events are just for " FUN" they will be " USELESS" ... everything has to have " meaning" even the Fun. And also everything has to have “limitation" even the FUN! ... There is no absolute fun!


From this point I'm going to talk about “Homosexuality " ... the Topic that I have been pushed to talk about it more than 4 times so far !


But this is another topic ...it will be the next post

The differences in The similarities!

When you hear word " People " your brain should reflect word " Different" !! there is a famous an Egyptian story about " Goha*" and his son

( Goha*: is a famous funny character. he is famous in Egypt and Arab countries .. I think the character came originally from Turkey)

Goha and his son were going to somewhere by their Donkey. When they were ridding the donkey some people said " you don't have any mercy! you are too heavy and the donkey is suffering carrying you both". so that, Goha was walking beside the Donkey and his son was ridding the donkey alone but some people said " look ... look .. Goha's son doesn't respect his father ... Goha doesn't know how to raise his son!". So, the son was walking beside the donkey and Goha was ridding the donkey but the people didn't stop talking! they said " Goha is proud of himself .. he looks stupid ... he doesn't have any mercy in his heart ... how he let his child walk and he rides the donkey alone!". finally Goha, his son, and the donkey was walking side by side! nobody rides the donkey! some people met them and said " what a stupid guy; Goha! ... he bought a donkey to just walk beside it!" !!!

- we can't make all people accept everything ... people will never stop disagreeing! like Allah " The God" says in the Qur'an
" And if your Lord had so willed, he could have made (all) mankind one people, but (even then) they will not stop disagreeing".!

and disagreeing is not usually means there is right and wrong! - people are very different ... and everybody has his/her opinion and has also his/her logical reasons that made him/her accepts and gets convinced in this opinion or that idea !

and disagreeing is not usually means there is right and wrong! like Gavin, my coordinator at my College, says " it is not right or wrong ... it is just different"

everybody looks at the same picture! ... but we can zillions of opinions in the same picture. the life is just a big fake . everybody thinks he sees the whole picture .. from different sides and views! the first thing that I have learned from travel abroad there is no body has the complete truth! Just Allah "the God" has the complete truth! nobody knows everything about everything! everybody has just a little bite of the truth and knowledge.
as Allah says in Qur'an

" and they ask you about the spirit; say: the spirit comes by the command of my Lord: of the knowledge, it is only a little that is made known to you." Al-Esra' -85.

if you need to see the big differences between people. just be in US! this is just a bottle how mixed in it all different kinds of humans! the differences in the similarities !!

here, in US, I have been seeing the Muslims in the Mosques from all over the world ... Americans .... Arab .... Chinese .... Indians.... Pakistanis.... Europeans... and Latino people.....from different families background... all pray side by side!
that made me feel a very strange feelings!

you can see also in bars .. clubs ... people from over the world ... with different colors and cultures .. drinking .. singing with the music .... dancing " Dirty Dance!!" together ... even making sex together!
without thinking about any barriers ... they can overcome! even languages barriers ! because they are a lot of international languages .. the religions language! ...... Alcoholic language!.... sports language ..... music language.....Eyes language .... even Sex language !

The Americans and the world (1)

people "anywhere" are people !

they wake up ... go to work. they eat ...they drink .. they go home to sleep and wake up and go to work !

they love ... actually they like to love ... boys love girls and hang out with them ! all people are running after their lust!

the parents raise their children ... the children try to discover the new life ... and the teenagers are the teenagers :))!

but they all do all of these things by different ways... depends on many conditions ... the place .. the culture ... and the religion ....

and here in America ... the Americans have their own "special" way to do all of these stuff!

I will not cover all things that the Americans do in their life but all things have something called "Mastering" .... they do everything perfectly ! sure not all the Americans ... but most of them .. the system says that ... everything is "perfect"

they work hard to earn their money ... they have to do their work very work "perfect" ... with their smile !

they can separate their personal feelings and emotions when they start the work ... you will see their smile " for every" on their face !

in my college ... the people always smile .. they are absolutely helpful! with their smile ... one time I asked myself these people don't have any problems in their personal life?!

one day I asked this question to my American culture's teacher " why don't I see sad people in America ... why are people usually smiling?! " sure she laugh!

the fact is they do everything perfectly and they have the ability to separate ! in the house ... there is a family ... in the work .. there is work ... and on the bed there is sex ... everything .. perfectly .

even fun ... I've never seen people trying to enjoy every moment when the time of fun comes ! in weekend you find all people walk to one direction ... to have fun ... everyone is going to have fun but his/her way ... under 21 years usually going to party anywhere ... and more than 21 going to clubs ... bars ...

and the clubs here are just mix of everything ! I don't thing these are the clubs that I know or that I've heard about! ... it is mix of dance .... drink ... sex ... and all things that lead to fun ... absolutely fun! a perfect fun!

Here the weekend = drink + sex + other things!

anywhere you will find people are looking for the fun , the happiness and entertainment! but the Americans are looking for that by their weird way ... by no-limitation !

The wonderful thing that you can wonder when you see the person who fell drunk yesterday! today is doing his/her work very well! with a smile !

However ... there is a system that people grew up to respect it!

Red stop ... Green Go !

you will find that anywhere ... and there is no exception !

son of the president like son of the worker ... Red stop ... Green GO!

here ... you can't determine " exactly" who is rich and who is poor ... you see everybody wears the same clothes ... the poor buy them from secondhand stores and the rich buy them brand new ... but when everybody wears the clothes ... they are just clothes ... used clothes! after the first time everything is used!

the same thing with the cars .... all people drive cars .. good car ...!

you can find rich and poor eat from the same restaurant ...drink from the same bar ... dance side by side. you find the same service for all people!

I know there is variety .. but you can't feel it easily like in many countries!

Boston in 3 Days!!

when I visited Time's Square in New York and spent just 7 hours between New York's streets I flied to Boston to spend 3 days ... 4 night there !

actually, this trip was very short. 3 days are not enough to enjoy in Boston!

Boston was the second stop, after New York, in US. but when I stayed in this beautiful city I started to recognize how the American system works ... in the daily life of American!

I started to see the cars' stops. and how everybody has to respect " the arrangement" or " the system"!
however, Boston is a wonderful city. most of people from around US come to visit it.

I don't remember a lot of things about Boston. I just surprised about the number of the bicycles ! not the bicycles that the people rid anywhere. I surprised when I have seen the bikes was stealing from Boston's streets ! although I saw the people there are very helpful and nice especially with the foreigners. but I found this case! the bicycles has no wheels in the street ... and just the bicycle's body that arrested !

the buildings in Boston are really awesome.

America when you be in !

have you tried the honey bee ?

if you read zillion books that describes taste of the honey bee ... that is NOT enough to know what is the taste of the honey !

I mean you have to try anything to feel the true " taste" of it ... because it is not enough to hear ... listen ... to just read ! you have to live !

when i flied from Cairo to New York ... it was 13 hours that were to feel me like I changed the world ... like someone who jumped through time's gate !

the first thing that I felt in the JFK airport, in NY, that I'm in an American movie !

the same brands that arranged in the same way that we usually see that in the movies ... the same familiar faces !

maybe, because there were a lot of pictures that have saved in the Unconscious.

after that , I started to surprise when I started to "taste" America ... the real America ... not America that I have watched on TV and movies.

New York in 7 hours

I just spent just 7 hours in New York city, because I had a plane to Boston ... but I didn't spend these hours.

I was very excited to see The American's streets .. to see the people in the street move very quickly ... to see the american Advertisement that hanged by the American way.

so I went out the airport ... I took the train that moves without driver ! and I took the subway ! that full of the American people .... black ... white ... red ... between between ... mix of the people from different originality in the same place !

like, you have taken a cross section from the world and put it on microscopic slid ... you will see all kinds of the people that adapted to live together ! ... this is America !

I'm an Egyptian man who have spent about 25 of his life in Egypt .... in the Egyptian's streets ... with the people who drew the smile on the world

the Egyptians, who tought the world how to smile under the water ... under the pressure

I'm from Egypt ... Mother of the land ... the mother of the all civilizations ... and the source of any innovate. Egypt who created all of my characters to make me just a person who collect everything from his country to be just " him". he is just an Egyptian who trying to present Egypt
